THE first meeting of the year of the Hawksworth branch of the Yorkshire Countrywomen's Association was held at Hawksworth Methodist Church on Monday afternoon.
Chairman Mary Bowes wished everyone a happy new year and stated that because the Christmas coffee morning had been financially successful that subscription fees that will be dues at the AGM next month will remain at £15 for the year and the monthly fee of £2 for refreshments would also remain the same. Mary also told members that if they wished they could sign up to attend a gardening evening and supper that Hawksworth Residents Association are holding at Bradford Golf Club on March 14th at which the gardener Ben Preston will be speaking. Members were also encouraged to attend a coffee morning that the chapel is holding on Saturday March 16th from 10am till noon.
A beetle drive was held and Carol Potter was the winner with 74 points and received a box of biscuits. Wendy Richman received some daffodils for accumulating the lowest score (46). Afterwards refreshments were served by the committee.
The AGM and mini afternoon tea will be held on Monday March 11th at the chapel commencing at 2pm. New members are welcome.
