AIREBOROUGH Civic Society has its next community meeting on Tuesday, January 30, 7.30pm, at Rawdon Library.
New members and observers are welcome as the society - set up in 1972 - continues its vision of ‘Making Aireborough a better place to live’.
This month the society will be looking at recognising the importance of Conservation Areas and local shops in Guiseley, Rawdon and Yeadon.
Chair Clive Woods said: “Most people don’t know that Aireborough has seven Conservation Areas that all contribute to making this an interesting, characterful place to live. There is a danger that we take it for granted and allow changes that can spoil our environment.
"At the meeting we shall look at new leaflets on both that have been produced by Leeds Civic Trust for local communities to distribute so that tenants and landlords are aware of how to improve our area and what to avoid. We shall also look at the excellent Conservation Area Appraisals that are available online and are an invaluable source of information.
"We shall also review topics and issues of local interest from last year, 2023, including public transport, congestion on local roads and much more.
"All are welcome."
