ON Saturday night, officers from West Yorkshire Police's Road Policing Department were patrolling Guiseley, Yeadon and Horsforth as part of Operation SPARC.
Results included: two vehicles seized for no insurance; three tickets for using a handheld device whilst driving; two tickets for driving without a seatbelt; one ticket issued for driving without due care and attention; one ticket for driving with an expired MoT; six tickets issued for having defective parts (brake lights out, mis-represented number plates, excessive window tints etc) and two section 59 warnings issued (a warning issued after a vehicle is seen to be driving in an anti-social manner).
Operation SPARC (Supporting Partnership Action to Reduce Road Casualties) was developed in response to an increase in anti-social driving complaints from residents in Leeds.
The operation focuses on targeting anti-social driving and the driving offences most associated with victims being killed or seriously injured.
