Dr Rebekah Olive, clinical psychologist, and Dr Beth Daley, author and writing coach, are teaming up to run a Writing for Wellbeing course at Olive Branch Therapy, Ilkley, in the new year.
The pair met on a singing course in Leeds in 2002, and became firm friends who supported each other through their PhD studies in Clinical Psychology and Creative Writing & English Literature respectively, often studying together. And whilst these topics of study might seem very different, they are now converging in a four-session course designed to help people discover their self-compassion through creativity.
Beth Daley said: "Writing isn't all about publication. It's a really useful tool for exploring our thoughts and reflecting on all sorts of things. You don't need to have any writing experience to join in. I'm really looking forward to helping people to explore how writing can help their wellbeing."
Rebekah Olive added: "We know writing is therapeutic. This course offers a safe place to write freely. It provides gentle prompts aimed at helping you develop your self compassion and exploring your relationship with yourself."
The course will run 10.30am -12.30pm on 11 January, 8 February, 14 March and 11 April. For more information email info@olivebranchpsychology.co.uk
