ILKLEY-based interior design agency, AMC Design has been awarded the overall winner award of the Residential Budget Up to £50,000 category at the prestigious SBID International Design Awards.
Receiving the accolade at the awards ceremony held at the five star Landmark Hotel in London on November 3, AMC Design had two projects shortlisted in the coveted ‘Residential Budget up to £50k’ category.
Founder and managing director Ann Marie Cousins collected the honour for its Owler Park project, a redesign of a 1960s family home, overlooking the Wharfedale Valley.
“We were absolutely stunned when our name was announced,” says AMC Design founder, Ann Marie Cousins. “To receive an award of this magnitude against such strong competition is an incredible honour, and for the final decision to have been decided by members of the public makes it even more special (90% of the vote was from the judges, with the final 10% from the public).
“We almost didn’t make the award ceremony, after our travel plans were plagued by a raging Storm Ciaran. But we were so pleased to have dashed down the A1 to be there as a team, in person, to celebrate together with our peers.
“Owler Park was a wonderful project, which enabled us to showcase what beautiful homes our small corner of Yorkshire has to offer, and also what an incredible canvas the humble 1960s home can make.”
The main focus of the Owler Park project was to create an open plan living area within the home, where the owners could socialise and make the most of the scenery of the Wharfe Valley. The owners, who had previously lived in a Victorian house, were keen to create a sociable space, in which they could enjoy both a cosy family evening and a large party of friends and family, all while respecting the period of the property.
“I feel extremely privileged to work on exciting projects like Owler Park and I wish to thank the AMC team, our suppliers and the owners of Owler Park for allowing this wonderful project to have taken place,” added Ann Marie.
AMC Design was founded by Ann Marie Cousins in 2014, with the goal to create beautiful interiors which reflect the life and interest of each home and its inhabitants. Focusing primarily on residential projects, the team specialise in mixing colour, pattern and texture with effective use of space to transform homes and encourage clients to be brave with their creative choices.
