ON Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday the district will pay its respects to those killed or injured in conflicts around the world.
There will be services held across the district on Sunday, November 12 where wreaths will be laid by civic representatives.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Gerry Barker, said: "The annual services of Remembrance in our district are always moving events. It is important that we continue to remember all those who have lost their lives, been wounded, have suffered or are still suffering in any way, due to past and present conflicts around the world."
In Addingham there will be a service at 10.30am at St Peter's Church, Church Street, Addingham. At 11.45am there will be a parade from St Peter's Church to the War Memorial, Main Street (by Memorial Hall) where there will be a wreath laying ceremony.
In Burley-in-Wharfedale there will be an outdoor service and Act of Remembrance at 10.45am at the war memorial by Burley Grange. The Methodist church will be open for anyone to watch the live streamed outdoor service at 10.45am if they don't wish, or are unable, to stand outside. The outdoor service will last for approximately 30 minutes.
In Ilkley a parade will assemble at 2.20pm at Whitton Croft Road (directly behind the Town Hall). The parade marches left onto Chantry Drive, left onto Station Road and straight onto The Grove for a 3pm Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony in the Memorial Gardens.
In Menston a Service of Remembrance is to be held at the Memorials outside Kirklands Community Centre. Assemble for service led by local ministers at 10.30am. The service will commence 10.45am with refreshments in the Community Centre following service.
In Otley on Sunday, November 12 a parade, organised by Otley Town Council and the Royal British Legion, will remember all those from Otley who have given their lives for their country. The parade commences at 2.15pm from Station Road and marches to a local church for a Service of Remembrance followed by the Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony in the Remembrance Garden on Bondgate.
In Guiseley there will be a Remembrance Day Parade Sunday, November 12, a service at St Oswald's Church at 10am with the last post and wreath laying at Guiseley Cross Memorial Garden, Towngate, at 11am.
To take part in the Parade meet at the Guide Hut at 9.15am with the parade leaving The Green, Guiseley at 9.30am. 2168 ATC Yeadon Squadron will be leading the parade and the service will be conducted by Fr. David Pickett MBE. The Last Post will be by Roy Stevenson, of Guiseley Brass Band and Mr Stephen Davidson from the Lieutenancy Office will be attending. Local schools will be having a two minute silence on Friday, November 10 at 11am and students from Guiseley School will play the Last Post at Guiseley Cross.
In Horsforth on Sunday, November 12, The Royal British Legion and Horsforth Town Council invite residents to participate in a parade, meeting at 10am at the junction of Broadgate Lane/Stanhope Drive outside Morrisons Daily - previously McColl's followed by a Remembrance Service at the Horsforth Cenotaph at 10.45am. Refreshments will follow at The Willows next door to the Cenotaph. All welcome.
In Bramhope on Sunday, November 12 there will be a Remembrance Day Parade, which will commence at Bramhope Village Hall, Old Lane, Bramhope at approximately 10.50am. The Act of Remembrance will take place at the Memorial Garden at 11am, led by Rev Matt Broughton and Rev Roger Smith.
A service will follow at the Methodist Church, Breary Lane, Bramhope at approximately 11.15am. All are welcome.
In Yeadon there will be a remembrance service on Sunday, November 12 at 10.15am at Yeadon Methodist Church followed at 11am by wreath laying at the Yeadon War Memorial.
At Priory Church, Bolton Abbey on Remembrance Sunday, November 12, Cantoris Salicium will give a concert at 4pm to 5pm. It is entitled ‘In a Stange Land;’ Music and Words of Loss and Remembrance. Tickets at £10 will be available on the door.
