BURLEY Show, organised by Burley Gardener’s Association, took place on Bank Holiday Monday at the Queen’s Hall and was wonderfully supported by villagers.
They proudly entered their fruit, vegetables, flowers, pot plants, cakes, pies, biscuits and jams. Handicrafts included quilts, embroideries, pictures, photographs, knitting and crochet. The photography section was much bigger than last year with many more entries, as was the junior section. Junior classes - make a fruit or vegetable animal and design your own Lego creation were extremely popular and competition was very strong!
Eighty-eight people entered at least one item in the show and the total number of entries was almost double the number of last year, with 388 entries.
Sue Vint, publicity secretary said: “It was fantastic to see so many people entering. All the classes had many more entries than last year and the standard was very high. The juniors were very enthusiastic and brought all types of creations and there was much competition between siblings and friends.”
Prizes were presented by Duncan Ault of Burley Community Trust. He congratulated all who had won and thanked everyone who took part in this year’s show.
