A NEW bereavement group is being set up in Addingham, starting in October.
It is being set up by palliative care nurse and grief counsellor Jo Onions.
Jo, who lives in Addingham, said: "I currently support two other groups, one in Ilkley and one in Skipton, with a third starting in Keighley in the autumn. However, Addingham doesn’t have a bereavement specialist led group. A large part of the community are elderly and don’t have the means of transportation to visit outer lying groups. So I decided to set up a group within the heart of the community, to serve the community. The Parish Council have kindly allowed me to use the Hub above the library for my group. The group is meeting for the first time on Monday October 2nd at 7pm and is expected to run for one and a half to two hours. Meeting thereafter the first Monday of the month. It is an opportunity for people to share their journey with other’s in the same situation, in a safe, welcoming space. It doesn’t matter if it is a recent bereavement or a historical one, everyone is welcome. I will be leading the group and will be on hand for support, clinical advice etc.
"The group is free to attend, everything is confidential and shared without judgement. Refreshments provided. For further details I would welcome calls on 07927 769400."
