THE Friends of Ilkley Moor organised an archaeology walk on Saturday, August 12 for people to discover the rich archaeology to be found on Ilkley Moor.
Alex Gibson led the walk, taking people on an exciting and informative archaeology trail of the moor. Starting from White Wells car park The group followed an uphill climb to White Wells and beyond to explore cairns, the Twelve Apostles stone circle, the enclosure and several cup and ring marked rocks.
The group afterwards said it was a very informative event which had been enjoyed by everyone who attended.
More practical conservation days in habitat management and footpath restoration took place on the Tuesday volunteer days where participants helped manage and conserve Ilkley Moor.
Anybody who is interested in attending future events such as volunteer days or educational activities for youth groups please contact Tracy Gray, FOIM Project Officer on 07780535860 or email: tracy@ilkleymoor.org
