THE wonderful surroundings of The Priory Church at Bolton Abbey will be the setting for a series of concerts due to start later this month.
The series of five concerts will start on Saturday, May 13 with the Manchester Chorale, and will finish with the Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble on July 15. All profits from the concerts go to Priory funds.
It will be a welcome return to Bolton Abbey for the prizewinning Manchester Chorale on May 13 with the concert featuring the winning entries from its recent 40th anniversary choral competition.
Aires and gracenotes, on June 3, is a group of four local musicians who together will present 'And a Nightingale Sang' - an eclectic mix of classical, traditional and popular songs and melodies, including music by Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Roger Quilter, Cole Porter and Rogers and Hammerstein.
Chapter House Choir, on June 24, was formed in 1965 to raise funds for the York Minster Appeal. The Chapter House Choir continues to build on its reputation as one of the North of England’s finest amateur chamber choirs.
Wharfedale Chamber Ensemble, on July 15, was formed in 2012 and draws its players from the Wharfe Valley area and beyond. Some members also play with Airedale Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia of Leeds and Leeds Symphony Orchestra.
