ILKLEY Wharfedale Rotary Club has issued a big thank you to the people of Ilkley who helped them raise over £3,000 for the Turkey-Syria Earthquake appeal at a fundraising post in Tesco on Saturday, February 11.

Rotarian Michael Booth, who heads up international fundraising at the club, said: “It was a wonderful response to these tragic events. Once again the people of Ilkley have responded very generously and we raised £3,150 on the day.

“We are also very grateful to Tesco for allowing the club to organise the collection at such short notice. “

Every penny collected will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and will provide emergency shelters for more than 30 families affected by the disaster earlier this month.
