THE French drama Everything Went Fine is Ilkley Film Society’s next screening on Sunday, February 19th (8pm, Ilkley Playhouse).
The great French actor Andre Dusollier heads a marvellous cast, including Charlotte Rampling and veteran German star Hanna Schygulla, as an 85 year-old man incapacitated by a stroke. He pleads with his daughter (played by another star name, Sophie Marceau) to help him to end a life which he can no longer enjoy or endure - an act which is forbidden by French law.
Director Francois Ozon has created a gripping, suspenseful and crusading film about the right to die with dignity, and one which is deeply moving without being depressing. Ozon is no stranger to Film Society members as three of his previous films (8 Women, Swimming Pool and In The House) have been screened in past seasons. One of France’s most prolific directors, he has made over 20 feature films since 1990 and their standard is consistently high.
Non-members are welcome as guests (£4) but should phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 to guarantee admission.
