A GROUP of Craven based swimmers are taking to the outdoors everyday throughout this month - whatever the weather - to raise money for a homeless charity.

The swimmers are joining other groups from across North and West Yorkshire and in the Lake District who once again will take a daily dip in unheated water - and without wetsuits, to raise money for Crisis, which helps homeless and displaced people.

So far, the group's daily dips have included the river at Burnsall, Bolton Abbey and at Gaddings Dam, Todmorden.

The January Daily Dip, being held for the sixth year, has raised around £128,000 for the Crisis charity and has also helped raise awareness of its work.

A spokesperson said: "Homelessness can be overwhelming. It’s uncomfortable to confront. Sometimes the more we see it, the more we want to look away. But ignoring homelessness won’t help us to end it. This crisis has reached urgent levels. Homelessness can’t be ignored any longer."
