AFTER two years without a festival Otley Parish Church is going to be filled with 44 Christmas trees beautifully decorated by local charities.
The festival starts on Wednesday, December 7 at noon. Reverend Aaron Kennedy will lead the grand opening which will feature Otley Bellman, Terry Ford, and Guiseley Brass Band. For three days after this, the festival will be open from 10am to 6pm finishing on Saturday, December 10.
The festival is being organised by Allan Boddy, Barbara Nichols and Margaret Parkin with help from Tim and Helen Wilkinson. Choirs and music groups from five Otley primary schools will be taking part. There will also be musical contributions from other groups including Prince Henry’s Grammar School, the Chippendale Singers and the Wharfedale Male Voice Choir. Many charities have faced a tough time over the last two years and the festival is an opportunity to support them, raising vital funds.
Entry is free but visitors are asked to bring plenty of coins (or notes!) to put in the buckets of their favourite charities. From Thursday to Saturday festival visitors will be able to get a drink and a mince pie from the café.
