A MAN has been slapped with a restraining order after being convicted of a stalking offence.
Mark Daniel Chew, 50, of The Mews, Burley-in-Wharfedale, pleaded guilty to stalking without fear/alarm/distress when he appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on July 13, 2022.
The offence occurred between November 19, 2021 and December 12, 2021 in Otley when he "pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking" of his female victim.
The court heard he fitted a tracker to her vehicle and used it to check her movements.
Magistrates imposed a community order and a restraining order preventing any contact with the victim.
He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
