HENRY Brooks, from Bramhope, has been appointed as a head of school at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL), with the new head team announcing plans to enhance student wellbeing.
Henry, 17, who attended Pool-in-Wharfedale Cof E Primary School before GSAL, joins Zoe Mutamiri, 16, Jess London, 17, and Jevic Juma, 17, in the roles formerly known as head girl and head boy, following a rigorous selection process.
One of the their ideas for the new academic year is to make further improvements to the wellbeing mentoring programme to make it easier for younger students to access support. GSAL’s wellbeing mentoring scheme trains year 12 students to support younger pupils.
Henry said: “We’d like to introduce the pairing up of sixth formers with specific form groups further down the school so they see the same people each week which will better support them if they are struggling a bit with the workload or friendships.”
Henry is a keen rugby player and plays for Yorkshire and the school team. He is studying A-level economics, French and maths.
