WITH a heritage spanning 90 years and roots firmly embedded in the town of Ilkley, local manufacturer, Spooner Industries have launched an initiative to support four very different organisations working in the surrounding community.

On asking employees to nominate local good causes, charities or organisations that would benefit from a donation from Spooner, there was an overwhelming response.

The first good cause to receive a cheque for £1,000 is Ilkley Gymnastics Club which provides gymnastics to boys and girls aged 5-18, specialising in acrobatic gymnastics. For over 30 years the club has been a friendly, non-profit making community gymnastics club run to benefit their members. All the classes offered are led by British Gymnastics qualified coaches who have years of experience both in coaching and as gymnasts.

Nicola Robinson, Head Coach said: "This type of contribution is invaluable to the club, as we usually rely upon member contributions and our own fundraising. We are a community non-profit club, and this generous gift is a huge boost to us especially following the impacts of covid restrictions on our operations. We will be able to refresh and replenish some of our equipment as part of our efforts to rebuild programs. We will also use a portion to support squad representation at the National Finals in May. Thank you so very much Spooner Industries!"

Oliver Gregory, Group Head of HR at Spooner Industries, said: “Some months ago we asked the team at Spooner for their suggestions of local organisations and charities that the business could support. Ilkley Gym Club was nominated as a worthy cause by a member of our team.

"As a local business we are really proud to be supporting them in the purchase of new equipment.”

Spooner Industries is supporting four good causes in total.
