AN ILKLEY man has been fined by magistrates after pleading guilty to a racially aggravated offence.
Thomas Richard Lalor, 23, of Valley Drive, Ilkley, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 8, charged with racially aggravated harassment.
The offence happened on July 30, 2021 at Burley-in-Wharfedale Railway Station, when Lalor used threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.
The court found the offence was racially aggravated.
Lalor was fined £40, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The defendant's guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.
