MOUNTAIN rescue was called out twice yesterday (Saturday); to help a walker at Ghaistrill's Strid, near Grassington, and a few hours later to help a 'cragfast' man at Brimham Rocks, near Pateley Bridge.
Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue was first called out at 12.36pm to Ghaistrill's Strid, next to the River Wharfe, to assist the ambulance service with a casualty who had fallen down an embankment after slipping on a stile.
The Helimed air ambulance was also at the scene, but after being assessed, the casualty was carried by a stretcher to a road ambulance to be taken to hospital.
A short while later, at just before 4pm, the team was asked by police to help a visitor to Brimham Rocks who was unable to climb back down from one of the rocks.
A spokesperson for the Grassington based UWFRA said: "The team arrived promptly and quickly assessed the scene. Members climbed the rock, quickly set up ropes, the young man was made safe and lowered off."
The spokesperson added the team wished the walker at Grassington a full and quick recovery.
The call outs take the total this year so far to 12.
