A NINTH-annual charity clay pigeon shoot in Silsden has raised thousands to support the expert care provided by a local hospice.
Organised by Silsden resident Nobby Clarke – who also provides the clays – the popular shoot has taken place on New Year’s Day in aid of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice every year since 2013.
This year 75 clay pigeon shooting enthusiasts took part, raising £2,046 to support the Oxenhope hospice’s compassionate palliative care and bereavement support. This brings the total funds raised over the last nine years to an incredible £18,000.
Nobby said: “I’m delighted to be able to help Manorlands with a good total again. I’d like to thank all who attended, as well as Chris Herd of C & L Herd Butchers in Keighley for providing the sausages, Paul Allen at Craven Bakery for the teacakes and Lewis Robertshaw for providing the use of the Upwood Hall Clay Pigeon Shoot in Riddlesden.”
