THIS year’s production at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, School of Rock, played to packed houses.

The talented cast and band raised the roof with barnstorming performance, which elicited great praise from their audience and were ably supported by a team of students working backstage, on lighting and sound and in front of house.

Audience members took to Twitter and emailed school to show their appreciation, after a standing ovation on the last night.

“It was an absolutely stunning production. A credit to every student and staff member involved.”

“Indescribably brilliant. Thank you to ALL the cast, crew and your superstar music and drama teachers! Be very proud.”

“Tremendous performance! Well done to all who participated and helped pull it off. Bravo!”

“I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the performance of School of Rock last night. The audience clearly enjoyed themselves, clapping along with the songs, laughing at the jokes and applauding enthusiastically. The sets were very effective, lighting worked well and the whole cast came together very well, especially in the big set pieces. Please pass my congratulations to the cast and crew for an excellent evening.”

“It was a super production with the most amazing energy and dedication from everyone involved and some very mature performances from the leading characters. It showed, once again, what a wealth of talent you have at Prince Henry’s.”

Over 650 people saw the show, including an invited audience of Year 6 students from local primary schools, who attend a matinee as part of their transition activities.

Janet Sheriff, Executive Headteacher said: “Every year we are hugely impressed by the amount of talent we have here at Prince Henry’s and this year’s production was no exception. From the standout performances across the cast, to the fantastic students in the band and the brilliant support from students behind the scenes and in front of house – this really was a whole school production. I am truly grateful for the huge amount of work our Performing Arts Faculty put into rehearsals and the large number of other staff who helped with the show. I am so proud of everyone involved and delighted that the audience clearly enjoyed it so much.”
