AN empty retail unit in Ilkley is set to become a discount health and beauty store.
Savers Heath and Beauty Ltd has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council to install two new Savers branded fascia signs at 22 Brook Street, Ilkley.
Savers is a home, health and beauty discount chain of more than 400 shops across the UK and is owned by Hong Kong company A.S. Watson Group, which also owns Superdrug. It has outlets in Keighley and Skipton.
Former tenants of the property - the Co-op - announced plans to close in January this year and ceased trading on January 22.
At the time a spokesperson for Co-op, said: “The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum and while this often involves opening new stores, we also regularly review our existing sites. The decision to close any store is never taken lightly and, only after careful consideration. Our Brook Street store will close on 22 January. The decision to close the store is in no way a reflection on the hard work and commitment of colleagues, who have been informed. We would like to thank the community for its support of this store over the years. Co-op remains committed to serving the local community through its nearby store in Bolton Bridge Road.”
