BURLEY Summer Festival is back on this year with a fantastic opening planned on Sunday, August 21st.
The festival will be full of events including the classic car show, food and drink market, craft fair and more. In addition to the Scarecrow Festival, Walkers are Welcome walks and Play in the Park events, organisers hope to bring more community events back to the opening weekend.
“It’s exciting to be planning full steam for August,” said Chrissie Smith, the new chair of the Festival Committee, “however we’d love more people to get involved as we’ve lost numbers during lockdown and are now such a small group of people.”
The next planning meeting is on Thursday, February 17th in the Red Lion in Burley from 8pm and anyone with ideas for events or who just wants to get involved in making this year one to remember is encouraged to come along.
“We are looking for input from the community including businesses, community groups and individuals about what they want as part of the Festival,” said Chrissie. "We’d love people to come along to support and get involved in the Festival going forward. We’re a friendly group and have three new people who came to our last meeting and plan to stay involved but we’d really love to hear from others too, about what events and activities they want included, to ensure that the Festival reflects a range of activities for everyone in the community.”
