BRADFORD Council is launching a new grant programme to encourage the use of culture to support the district’s night-time economy.

The Bradford District is in the running for City of Culture 2025 and the grants scheme is to inspire people to put on activities and events to bring the district’s streets, towns and neighbourhoods alive with creativity.

The Council is seeking imaginative and affordable projects to bring fresh creative ideas to local high streets, which will provide the opportunity for experimental collaborations between creatives, local businesses and communities.

The grant is for activities taking place between January and March 2022 and they can be in any of the towns or villages across the district.

There is £20,000 of funding available and people can apply for a grant of up to £1,000 for their individual project. The closing date is 5pm on January 7.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “These grants provide an excellent opportunity for local creatives to contribute to these ambitions whilst showcasing their talents and helping the district’s night-time economy.”
