THE sparkling French comedy C’est La Vie is Ilkley Film Society’s next screening at 8pm on Sunday, October 17th at Ilkley Playhouse.
Max is a caterer and wedding party organiser who has landed a contract for a rich man’s wedding in a 17th century chateau.
The groom expects a flawless event with top-class food, service and entertainment, but Max finds that the staff he has assembled have brought a range of problems with them.
He is played, in one of his final appearances before his death in 2021, by the popular star Jean-Pierre Bacri, who made a string of successful films with his wife, actor-director Agnes Jaoui.
Bacri was so well-known in France that he even had his own look-alike puppet in the French equivalent of Spitting Image, the long-running satirical TV show Les Guignols De L’Info.
Non-members are welcome as guests (£4) but are asked to phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 in advance to ensure admission.
