CHILDREN, parents and staff at Moorfield School and Nursery in Ilkley are celebrating this week following an announcement that the school has reached the finals of The Independent Schools of the Year 2021.
A shortlist of 50 small independent schools from across the UK has been whittled down to just six, with Moorfield the only school in Yorkshire to be selected for this category.
Mrs Tina Herbert, Head of Moorfield, said:“We are so proud of this achievement because it is recognition of everything that makes Moorfield School a truly unique experience for children.
“New initiatives, such as the STEM and philosophy curriculum, the high quality of staff and specialist teachers and our commitment to outdoor learning is part of what makes us so special.
“Alongside this, the judges recognised that the focus on personal development, together with the nurturing and caring ethos of the school, enhances academic success – the two go hand in hand.”
Other school shortlisted as finalists in the category of Small Independent School of the Year alongside Moorfield are: Lathallan School; Ludgrove School; Moon Hall School, Reigate; Perrott Hill Prep School and Yorston Lodge Prep School.
Independent Schools of the Year 2021 is an awards programme organised by Independent School Parent magazine.
The awards are chaired by Dr Helen Wright, international education adviser and past Vice Chair of the ISC, supported by a panel of judges which includes leading Head Teachers and representatives of the professional associations.
The finalists will be attending the awards ceremony, being held on Thursday, October 7th, when the winner from each category will be announced.
Moorfield is holding two ‘Open Doors’ mornings on October 14th and 15th and a warm welcome awaits visitors.
