TWO local hospices have each received a donation from the owners of the former auction mart site on Billams Hill, Otley.
Amy Houldsworth, who family own the site, recently presented £1,050 each to representatives of Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice and Saint Michael’s Hospice. The money was raised by renting part of the site as a base for Popara Films Ltd who were filming locally a period feature film ‘Emily’ based on the life of Emily Bronte.
Amy said. “We are pleased to be able to donate these monies raised by letting part of the site. Locals and visitors to the town will be aware of the extensive works being carried out on the site by Leeds City Council and the Environment Agency’s presence in constructing the flood defence, which we understand should be complete later in the year. On completion we will be presenting our proposals for the remaining site, which will be based on facilities for the community and visitors.”
