THE Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association’s (PBFA) Book Fair returns to Ilkley this month.
The popular event takes place on Friday, July 30 from noon to 6pm and Saturday, July 31 from 10am to 4pm in the King’s Hall and Winter Gardens, Ilkley.
Fair manager Louise Harrison, of T P Books in Addingham, said: “Sadly we have not been able to run live book fairs since March 2019 but look forward to welcoming friends old and new when we open the doors on Friday.
“In an attempt to make all our visitors feel safe and comfortable stalls will be well spaced apart and there will be a control on flow and volume of traffic throughout the building so that everyone can enjoy browsing amongst the huge selection of second hand and collectible items for sale.
“Given the wide variety of books and related ephemera on display there is every chance of finding that elusive title you have been searching for, or indeed one you hadn’t actually realised you had been looking for but there it is right in front of you!
“A great opportunity for long term collectors or simply enthusiasts to meet dealers who have travelled from all over the country in order to offer their own particular specialities for sale.
“Covering an almost endless variety of subject matter and with prices ranging from just a few pounds to a more serious consideration, there really is something to suit all interests and pockets. Perhaps you are or looking for an inspired gift. I often have visitors to my shop looking for unusual and thoughtful gift ideas. Old Beano or Rupert annuals (from the year of birth) are popular, also illustrated copies of classics such as Winnie-the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland or favourites such as William, The Famous Five, Sherlock Holmes and Inspector Morse! ‘Career fiction’ (chosen for ex Models and Flight Attendants) to Dining with Sherlock Holmes for the man who had everything!
“Admission to the event is free making if possible for anyone to pop in and have a look, particularly if not familiar with this type of event.
“The fair has been running for decades and for some is a firm annual date in the diary but we are always delighted to welcome new faces too.”
