ON Saturday, August 14, acclaimed soprano Alexandra Lowe will give a charity concert at the stunning Bolton Abbey Priory Church.
After having to postpone the event planned for June 2020 due to the pandemic, it is a delight to be able to rearrange this special occasion.
To celebrate what has been an extremely formative concert series, Alexandra will deliver a thrilling concert of some musical gems from the stage and screen, in support of the Priory Restoration Funds, with guest performances from violinist Joy Becker and welsh tenor Ryan Vaughan Davies. Joy has appeared in several of the Bolton Abbey concerts since 2010 and performs internationally as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician; Ryan is an exciting young tenor currently studying at the Royal College of Music and is due to join the prestigious Opera School at the Royal Academy of Music from September. This special concert, set in the enchanting priory, will be an absolute pleasure for any music lover, and will delight the many ears that have missed the sound of real, live voices and music!
Since 2010 Alexandra has been training at some of the UK’s top institutions including the Royal Northern College of Music, The Guildhall School of Music, the National Opera Studio and is currently working full-time at the Royal Opera House as a Jette Parker Young Artist. Alexandra was chosen from over 424 applicants worldwide to join the internationally coveted Programme in Covent Garden, where she has been under-studying the opera stars of today and performing roles on the main stage. This has been a life-long ambition for Alexandra and she is thrilled to be starting her career at one of the world’s most prestigious opera houses. Her achievements to date, including winning second prize at the Glyndebourne Opera Cup and gaining a place at the ROH, show that this British soprano is showing the signs of being one of the most internationally successful leading ladies of her time.
Alexandra says: “After many years of operatic training, I am extremely excited to be coming to the end of this period and finally launching my career. It has been the greatest pleasure to perform at Bolton Abbey over the last 10 years, each time showcasing my development as an artist. The local community has been unbelievably supportive, many becoming sponsors for my ongoing training and close friends. Each year we have made a donation to various charities. This summer will mark the 10th (now 11th!) anniversary of my concert series at Bolton Abbey, and I’d like to make it an extra special one. Singing at the Priory is always the greatest joy for me, it’s where I feel most at ease and able to perform to the best of my ability to the most generous audience! It would be a great honour to sing at my all time favourite venue to celebrate this huge milestone in my career.”
