A BRAMHOPE estate agents is giving tips on how to make moving home more environmentally friendly.
Director at David Phillip Estate Agents, Lesa Brown, says there are a number of things people can do to make their moves ‘greener’.
They include everything from choosing a removal company that only uses low-emission enhanced vehicles to fully de-cluttering before the move to ensure anything that’s not needed has been given to charity, sold, or recycled.
Other tips include:
*Using empty cupboard drawers and suitcases - or the pre-used boxes that some removal companies offer - instead of new packing boxes
*Clearing the freezer and fridge early by cooking the contents to minimise food waste
*Using the nearest re-cycling centre, plus collection services often offered by local councils, to dispose of unwanted white goods, televisions and other larger items
*Cutting down on wrapping material by using duvets, sheets and bio-degradable bubble wrap to protect items - and using environmentally friendly cleaning products.
