TOP runners from across Yorkshire will be in Otley on June 13 for the town’s annual 10-mile road race hoping for a share of the £1,000 prize money.

Organised by Otley Athletic Club, the race is now in its 29th year and more than 400 runners are set to tackle the hilly route that starts on Mill Way, off Gallows Hill, before heading to Pool-in-Wharfedale, Leathley, Lindley and Farnley and finishing at Otley Cricket Club.

Last year’s race was won by Jack Wood of Ilkley Harriers in 56 minutes 34 seconds, while the first woman was Carol Morgan, who lives in Otley but runs for Nidd Valley, in a time of 1:08:46.

Race director Colin Best said: "With the Otley 10 approaching its 30th year it’s proving to be as popular as ever thanks to a combination of a challenging route, beautiful scenery and a hefty prize list.”

This year's race has attracted sponsorship from Up & Running, Club Energy, Red Pepper Restaurant and Sinclairs.

The race starts at 7:30pm and entries are accepted on the night at the race headquarters at Otley Cricket Club or online at www.otleyac.org.uk.
