BRADFORD MDC resident, Bernard Thornton, may be dismayed that he will no longer be able to get Leeds council tax payers to pay for the disposal of his refuse at Ellar Ghyll tip; I’m astounded at his cheek.
Waste disposal is not a playground squabble between local authorities, it is a costly service that we all pay for through our respective council taxes. Leeds City Council charges businesses £39.70 per visit to dispose of household waste.
Using this as a benchmark, Mr Thornton is expecting Leeds council tax payers to subsidise him by almost £40 per visit when he uses the Ellar Ghyll tip. If Mr Thornton has a problem with his waste disposal he should take this up with Bradford MDC, not expect to be subsidised by Leeds council tax payers.
