The organisers of the 2013 Otley Sportive are celebrating getting more than 650 people cycling.
The final numbers in from the third year of the annual event, which was sponsored by Chevin Cycles and held on Saturday, September 14, show that more people took part than ever before.
The participating cyclists had a choice of three different difficulty and length routes, designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to “have a go”.
Organiser Luke Minshall said he and his team of volunteers were delighted to have staged the biggest Otley Sportive so far.
He said: “The Sportive, in its third consecutive year, had the biggest field of cyclists yet travelling from all over the country to take part, with more than 650 riders entering.
“The three routes were designed to attract riders of all abilities to take part in an event which is aimed at social cycling and getting individuals on their bikes.
“The success of the event this year has also made thousands of pounds for local causes, with Bridge Church Scout Group being the main beneficiary.”
MP Greg Mulholland added: “It was great to see so many people taking part in this year’s Otley Sportive. Well done to Luke and his team.”
