A new planning application for houses on the edge of Addingham has been submitted to Bradford Council, following the withdrawal of plans for seven homes.

Addingham resident Stephen Hall, of Street House Grange, has applied for permission to build six houses on land at Street House Farm, The Street, Addingham.

The land lies to the south-west of the village, backing on to the A65 Addingham bypass. Part of the site previously gained approval for a detached dwelling and garage.

The plot is outside of Addingham Conservation Area, although close to grade II-listed buildings.

A design and access statement by Allison & Macrae said: “The proposed dwellings have been designed to sit comfortably with their neighbours and to contribute to the local sense of place.”

The statement also cites the last draft core strategy of the emerging Bradford District Local Plan, which recommended 400 new houses should be built in Addingham. The previous planning application last year, for seven houses, was withdrawn by the applicant for discussions with the planning authority.

During consultation on the previous plans, West Yorkshire Archaeological Advisory Service recommended trial trenching should take place prior to the determination of the planning application to establish if a Roman road survives on the land.
