Police have arrested a man on suspicion of arson after a car was gutted by fire on a residential street in Ilkley.
Firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze which damaged a Volswagen Polo car on Dean Street on Friday morning.
A fire engine from Ilkley Fire Station was called to the scene at around 10.30am.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed they had arrested a man on Friday and were questioning him. Enquiries were ongoing.
Early reports suggest the fire also damaged a nearby telecommunications box.
Nearby resident, Bryan Robinson, witnessed the blaze.
He said: “I was sat in my office when I heard a bang, looking out of the window I could see a fire had started up Dean Street, I walked up and saw it was a car on fire, another local resident called the fire service.”
