Otley Town 2 Rothwell FC 3
Otley Town surrendered a two-goal half-time lead as they slipped to a disappointing defea West Yorklshire Premier Division defeatt.
Although nowhere near their best and once again suffering from late backwords, Otley Town were still able to establish a first-half advantage against Rothwell side that had not played particularly badly.
Once Rothwell woke up in the second half they throughly outplayed Otley Town.
The spine of their teams was outstanding and was the cornerstone of their revival.
Scott Norton scored a good goal for Otley following a great one-two with Sam Jewell.
It was Jewell himself who scored the second goal from the spot for Town before they faded and lost their way.
In the second half they didn’t manage a shot on goal which says something about the performance, whilst Rothwell notched three goals, two of which were manifestly avoidable.
Town will need to improve dramatically if they are to take anything from this Saturday’s crucial home fixture against Carlton Athletic (2.30pm).
