Mrs. Abbatt taught me English Language and English Literature at Happy Grove School, Portland, Jamaica in the 60’s. She was a wonderful person.

I just today found an e-mail address for her, while updating an e-mail address for the school, and decided to reach out. I did send an e-mail and then a Google search, which resulted in seeing this Obituary. I feel honored to know that after so many years, she still had an interest in the Institution.

My condolence to her husband, Fred and her children and grandchildren. Her son, Jonathan was born while she was at Happy Grove School.

It is with sadness, I learnt of the death of Joyce. We go back over 40 years when she joined my small national team of Liaison Officers. The role was to work across public sectors to encourage joint collaboration in promoting the health and well being of the public. After a period of working in London, Joyce was encouraged to establish an office close to home that enabled coverage of the northern health regions. She was a much valued team member and immensely helped in making the Liaison role sucessful in contributing to coordination to promote public health. My condolences to Fred and all the family. Loraine
