TO accompany ‘Beauty’, his remarkable exhibition of paintings on display at Ilkley Manor House, artist Dudley Edwards is to give an accompanying talk about his pioneering work during the Swinging Sixties and how his work has developed over the decades.

Edwards first came to prominence in the 1960s customising cars and furniture, most notably Paul McCartney’s iconic ‘Magic Piano’ and the facades of buildings like London’s Lord John boutique at 43 Carnaby Street. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr both commissioned Edwards to paint murals in their homes.

Sarah Thomas, Chair of the Ilkley Manor House Trust, says: "Dudley’s talk will be absolutely fascinating and his anecdotes about London’s Swinging Sixties are not to be missed! Edwards has been a guest speaker at esteemed institutions such as the Royal College of Art and the Commonwealth Institute, and was even a consultant on Michael Caine’s film My Generation; we are delighted that he can now join us at Ilkley Manor House.”

Ilkley Manor House’s spring programme is currently in full swing, with the House now open every Saturday and Sunday (11am – 4pm).

‘Beauty’, Dudley Edwards’ exhibition of paintings, opens on Saturday, March 2 and runs until April 28.

Many of the works will be for sale and admission is free.

Edwards’ talk and Q&A will take place on Friday, March 15 (7pm to 9pm); tickets can be purchased via ilkleymanorhouse.org/event/talk-dudley-edwards
