Left: Fashion raised money for Flower Fund homes at this event at St Margaret’s in Horsforth in 1985.
Pictured are Flower Fund Chairman Mr J Wood, with Miss A Hayden, Mrs J Ingle and two of the models. Bradford Flower Fund Homes was founded in 1957 by the late Ernest Marriott in memory of his son, Geoffrey, who had been killed in a car crash while returning from honeymoon.
The idea quickly caught on and within a few years similar schemes were set up around the country at locations including Aireborough, and Horsforth.
The charity provides small affordable homes for the elderly.
