PICKARD Kath After 53 happy years in hairdressing in Ilkley. Kath Pickard is retiring on the 16th November and hanging up her scissors for good. Kath has owned Plaitform 3 Hair Salon, previously known as Chantry Styles, on Chantry Drive in Ilkley for 35 years. Originally, Kath started out as a Saturday girl, then commenced a hairdressing apprenticeship at 15 years old. Ever since being a little girl, she dreamed about being a hairdresser. After completing her education at Ilkley Grammar School, she made those dreams a reality, running two salons at one point. Kath met her husband Alan in 1981, through working at the Salon and have just recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. She has always been devoted to her clients, many became life-long friends and we thank all of those who have supported her through the years. Kath introduced her children into the salon, but we couldn't be persuaded to take over. I would like to say our work ethic and hard work have definitely been inspired by our mum.
